I'm a designer at Penguin Random House in the audio department, with a goal of designing hardcovers in the future. As part of a personal challenge, I’ve been redesigning book covers with my own unique flair. While I’ve focused mainly on YA so far, I’m eager to expand my portfolio to include adult titles as well.
Wolfwood is a young adult novel I really enjoyed, telling the story of a young daughter and her mother, a fine artist whose work carries a supernatural edge. The mother’s art is filled with thorns and a sense of darkness, and one of the pivotal moments in the book is a photograph of her dancing on top of a Richard Serra sculpture at the peak of her career. Inspired by these elements, I decided to handletter the title, combining both the eerie beauty of the artwork and the power of that defining moment.
